Packaging

All of our bacon is vacuum packed and inserted into our unique Cure and Simple branded envelopes, which in turn is placed into an insulated envelope.

Bacon by its very nature was created to preserve pork long before we had refrigeration, however as today’s modern process of manufacture is very much an industrial one, most bacon needs to be refrigerated or it just won’t keep.

Cure & Simple bacon is handmade using an old fashioned process and has water actively removed, which means if the seal remains intact on the packet our bacon doesn’t need to be refrigerated.

Delivery

All deliveries are made using Royal Mail, 1st Class Post. All Bacon envelopes are picked up from Cure and Simple HQ the evening before each delivery day and will be delivered with your post the following morning*. Our Bacon envelopes go through a standard letterbox. So if you can receive normal letters through the post you can receive Cure and Simple bacon.

We deliver from Tuesday through to Saturday morning.

* Order before 13.00hrs for next day delivery.

We use a cross breed of pigs, Duroc and Large White, which are very popular in the UK pig farming industry. While we would love to use traditional breeds, the consistency of the pork from these breeds is erratic to say the least, and our customers prefer to have the same product week in week out.

If you are going away for a while or just fancy pausing your subscription, the opportunity to do so is available via your personal account and when you have returned or want to resume receiving your bacon delivery a couple of clicks sees it resumed.

Absolutely not, our bacon is delivered via Royal Mail 1st Class post, so there is no need for you to be at home.

Yes, we dont actually store your credit card details ourselves, these are handled by our Gateway and Merchant Account Provider. We use PayPal, as the most trusted and reliable provider of Credit Card and Debit card merchant services on the planet.

Really depends on the dog, in our testing, we found some dogs would chew the packaging regardless of what deterrents we used. The bacon is vacuum packed, then packed in an envelope and then an outer envelope keeping delicious aromas to a minimum, with the deterrent then added we believe all reasonable steps have been taken to prevent the bacon being eaten prior to reaching the pan. We would love it to be fool proof, but unfortunately we can't guarantee that your dog will not chew your tasty post.

The pigs we use are not officially classified as Free Range. Yes, their entire lives are spent outside, yes they are not kept in a confined space, yes they have access to shelter, and yes they are very happy pigs but they are not Free Range, as their defined boundaries are smaller than that of a free range pig.

However we bow our heads to modern practise and choose to keep our products chilled, so that you have the peace of mind that when our bacon goes through your door it's in the best possible condition.
